My New Year Resolution

  • Seek God more.
  • Smile always.
  • Spend more time with my family.
  • Blog consistently.
  • Radiate the beauty of Jesus.
  • Drink more water.
  • Have an awesome social life.
  • Appreciate my friends, as much as I can.
  • Begin a fulfilling business venture.
  • Be a blessing to everyone around me.
  • Stop procrastination.
  • Learn something new.
  • Discard of all unnecessary baggage.
  • Read at least 2 books every month.
  • Regular exercise to keep fit.
The list outlined above is a reminder that it is the beginning of a New Year and as has become the norm, many individuals are making decisions which they hope will greatly influence their lives as they journey through the year and beyond.

I hope you'd agree with me that making New Year Resolutions has become a ritual which many spend time to embark on, but are unable to follow through. Using myself and a few others to research, my findings agree that 'New Year Resolutions' aren't effectively adhered to, by most.

Please, I would never advice that you make no resolutions rather, as the conviction comes within you, taking it one step at a time, resolve to do right, change for the better, remove every form of negative energy around you, just be happy and live life to the fullest.

What am I saying in essence? You do not have to make these resolutions at the beginning of the new year or at once. I don't see why you should try to change your life simply because it's a new year. If you notice an error in your lifestyle, shouldn't you make changes immediately and get it over with?

My advice to you is this; in making changes, keep them short and simple, as well as achievable and specific. Feel no pressure to write a long list which would overwhelm you and become nearly impossible if not impossible to achieve.

The one which baffles me most would be the apologies many make at the end of the year, with the guise of beginning the year on a clean slate and being a better individual. I'm sorry but can you tell me what happened to saying an apology once you realize you've wronged an individual? Make the right decisions at the right time [as soon as you feel the conviction] and stop waiting for a new year.

P.S. My list of resolutions wasn't put together at the beginning of the year. They each became a part of my life on different occasions, long ago. Some of my friends have already seen some of the changes though not everyone of them makes sense to them. However, they still aren't New Year Resolutions, but my quest to make peace with myself, people I come across and above all, God.

GOD BLESS YOU AND HAVE A PROSPEROUS 2017!!!

I didn't start the new year with a list of resolutions. Maybe I'm losing confidence in making and keeping them

A nice piece.
I make new year resolutions, I don't necessary write them down, but I start implementing them as soon as possible.
It's not just because of a new year, so much happens between 20th dec and 10th Jan the next year, that gives me the opportunity to reflect on lots of things.
It's vacation time for me, so I have the opportunity to reflect on my career while not on duty.
I travel to lots of places, the new weather/environment/faces provides me a change of scenery, that is a good recipe for reflection.
I meet lots of family and friends that I haven't seen in a while, these people possess new thoughts and ideas that make me see things differently.

Now put all these together, and you may find reasons to want to do lots of things differently from January.

PS: Not because its a new year, but it simply happens to be that time of year when the wind change blows my way.
